Police School Awards Badges

LAKEWOOD — Members of the Lakewood auxiliary police school last night received badges and pins identifying them as auxiliary police at a dinner meeting in Buckwald's restaurant. Sol Kramer, local civil defense chairman, made the presentations.
Special Agent William H. McLaughlin of the FBI described the bureau's part in law enforcement. He was introduced by Jack Shapiro, toastmaster. Others who made brief remarks included Township Committee Chairman Victor E. Johnson, Acting Police Chief Walter L. Comstock, Patrolman Calvin Woolley and Mr. Kramer.
Patrolman Woolley, who conducted the 20-week course of instruction at the high school, received a pen and pencil set from Mr. Shapiro in behalf of the class. Patrolman Woolley, who is in charge of the local police department's investigation and fingerprinting setup, attended a school in Trenton to qualify him for the task. He announced the unit will meet monthly starting in September for educational program and that from time to time they will go on duty with municipal police. Civil defense authorities here appointed David McKelvey as commanding officer and George Buckwald as executive officer. Both are captains in the setup.
