Witnesses Tell Of Assault In Monsey At Trial Of 17-Year-Old Vilord

New City — Four teen-age witnesses testified in County Court yesterday that they saw 17-year-old Floyd Vilord punch and kick Dolores Granata in a Monsey apple orchard on June 21.

In the third day of Vilord's trial on second-degree assault charges, the prosecution's witnesses gave essentially the same version of the apple-orchard fracas described Monday by Miss Granata, the 19-year1 old complainant.

Karen Miller, 16, of 80 West Street, Haverstraw; Alfred Di-Giovanni Jr., 17, of 6 Locust Street, Hillcrest; David Berman, 18, of 5 Nansen Court, Spring Valley and Frank Deiudicibus, 17, of 13 Aselin Drive, Spring Valley, all testified that they did not respond to Miss Granata's screams for help because they did not know what to do.

During cross-examination by defense attorney Robert Meehan, Miss Miller recalled that there was joking and laughter among the teen-age group before she, Miss Granata, and the three Spring Valley boys left the orchard in Miss Granata's car.

Miss Miller also testified that she, with Miss Granata, Deiudicibus, and two other boys later returned to the orchard looking for Vilord.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Stolarik is expected to rest his case today with the testimony of a physician who examined Miss Granata's injuries, including a broken nose, and Ramapo police officers who took her statement on June 23. The jury trial is scheduled to resume at 1 P. M. today.
